Italian Leonardo Bonucci joins the ranks of Union Berlin after leaving those of Juventus, the Bundesliga club confirmed on Friday. Aged 36, the central defender with 121 selections with the Nazionale has given himself a probable last challenge in a new championship.
Having become undesirable at Juventus with one year left on his contract, Bonucci left Italy after 19 years of service. The Berlin club does not give the duration of the contract, but the bi-weekly kicker speaks of a season under the colors of the Berlin club, which will compete in the Champions League this season.
Arrived at the Inter U19s in 2005, Bonucci took his first steps in the first team the following year before being loaned between 2007 and 2009 to Treviso and AC Pisa. In July 2009, he joined Genoa before being transferred again a month later to Bari. He will play one season for the Galletti before experiencing his greatest professional rise. Between 2010 and 2023, he will play for Juventus and AC Milan. At international level, he was called up to represent Italy on March 3, 2010 before being named captain on November 18, 2014. He has 121 games and a Euro (2020).
