Leona Vicario gave money to the cause and they did not record it: Beatriz Gutiérrez

Beatriz Gutiérrez Müller recalled the women who have supported the revolutionary causes in our country, especially Leona Vicario, who she said risked everything to confront anti-independence characters and “who also gave money and they did not record her.”

His statement comes after this Thursday the Latinus portal revealed a video in which Pío, brother of her husband, President Andrés Manuel López Obrador, received money from another of his collaborators, David León.

The president said that that money were contributions that people gave to strengthen the National Regeneration Movement (Morena).

“I would like to see the video of when Leona Vicario gave money so that everyone could eat in the camps and fight for independence and so on many more,” said Müller, during the unveiling of the statue of Leona Vicario on the Paseo de la Heroinas, in Reforma.

“I believe that no woman who is here can not feel proud of having contributed even money to strengthen a cause that today keeps us happily telling the whole world: we are an independent, dignified, democratic and free nation,” added the head of the Honorary Council of Historical and Cultural Memory of Mexico.

He stressed that during the independence struggles, the reform war and the restoration of the Republic, many women and men contributed “intelligence, words, money, shoes, food” to the cause.

“(…) Let’s remember their names, we should know that all of them, these are known ones, but all of them and all our women who preceded us in the female lineage have given us a lot, including money, money, economic contributions, before they could not be filmed, now they can be filmed, “he added.

Support but not for extortion

The head of government, Claudia Sheinbaum, also defended the delivery of resources to support a movement.

In her daily conference from the government headquarters, she pointed out that she also put her own resources to support Morena, since 2006 when she said, electoral fraud was consummated. Then Felipe Calderón won the presidency with a minimal difference to López Obrador.

“In 2006, when the electoral fraud was consummated, many of us continued to go to convince people of the transformation of the country to different states of the Republic, we would go in my personal vehicle, I would bring the gasoline, so they are resources that one was contributing to the transformation of the country, to the consolidation of a transformation movement ”.

“That is very different from the use of public resources for blackmail, for extortion to buy the vote, they are different actions and when we are in electoral processes, there is a norm, a rule and it must be complied with,” he added.
