Düsseldorf While most Europeans are asleep, the North American professional leagues are busy. What happened during the night in American football, basketball and ice hockey. Today among other things: Leon Draisaitl remains on the road to success.
NHL: Draisaitls Oilers don’t give Chicago a chance
Leon Draisaitl has achieved a 5: 2 (4: 1, 0: 0, 1: 1) home win against the Chicago Blackhawks with the Edmonton Oilers. The Oilers set the course for victory in the first third, and the hosts took a 4-0 lead in the 19th minute. Draisaitl finished with his goal in the last third. With 17 goals, the Cologne native is still the top scorer in the NHL.

The other German ice hockey players in the NHL suffered defeats on Saturday (local time). Nico Sturm drew with the Minnesota Wild away 4: 5 (0: 1, 1: 2, 3: 2) against the undefeated Florida Panthers at home.

Moritz Seider had to admit defeat with the Detroit Red Wings away to the Arizona Coyotes after extra time with 1: 2 (1: 0, 0: 0, 0: 1). In the middle of the third round, the Red Wings were still 1-0 up, and the Coyotes scored the winning goal after just 25 seconds in extra time. Thomas Greiss was not used as a goalkeeper at Detroit.

Dennis Schröder celebrates fourth home win in a row with Boston

The Boston Celtics around the German national basketball player Dennis Schröder are getting better and better. The Massachusetts team drove a 111: 105 (58:45) win against the Oklahoma City Thunder to their fifth win in the past seven games. In addition, the Celtics have won their last four home games.

Schröder shone with 29 points, six assists and four rebounds. This made the point guard the second best thrower on his team behind Jayson Tatum (33 points). In the third quarter, the Celtics moved away by 20 points, Schröder triumphed in that round with twelve points.

For Schröder it was the third game in a row against one of his former NBA clubs. The German international had previously played with the Celtics against the Atlanta Hawks (99-110 loss) and Los Angeles Lakers (130-108 victory).

Franz and Moritz Wagner had to admit defeat to the defending champions with the Orlando Magic on Saturday evening (local time): At the Milwaukee Bucks, the Florida team lost 108: 117 (50:62). Before the final section, the Magic were already 25 points behind. Franz Wagner remained pale with three points – his weakest haul of the season. Moritz Wagner had eight points, three rebounds and two assists.

While Orlando has the weakest record in the Eastern Conference (4:13 wins), this applies to the Houston Rockets around national player Daniel Theis in the west. The Texans had to admit defeat to the New York Knicks with 99: 106 (47:47) and suffered their 15th defeat in their 16th game of the season. Theis couldn’t get past two counters and five rebounds.
