Leo Turini Comments on Ferrari Qualifying Results and “Horner case” Disgust – FIA and Red Bull Involved

Leo Turini, a famous Italian journalist and passionate Ferrari fan, commented on the results of the first qualifying of the season, and also expressed his attitude towards the “Horner case”.

Qualifying went about as I expected. We can agree that if Charles Leclerc had driven a lap in the final like he did in the second session, he probably would not have missed out on pole position. However, this does not change the essence of the matter: already in 2023, especially at a certain stage of the season, the Ferrari car was very competitive in one fast lap.

The race should put everything in its place and answer the question: is Frederic Vasseur’s glass half full or half empty? The main topic of discussion is well known: stability over the race distance, tire wear over long series of laps, etc. But what George Russell said yesterday, who performed well in qualifying, leads to sad thoughts. He said that Max Verstappen will be twenty seconds ahead of everyone during the race, so the rest can only claim 2nd place. A year ago, it was Russell who predicted that Red Bull would win all the races of the season.

Let me make a joke to Lewis Hamilton: he is saving himself for the Scuderia. But Fernando Alonso was great, as was Nico Hulkenberg, who also had a great qualifying time driving a Haas. But the way the Alpine drivers performed yesterday was a nightmare.

And now let’s continue the topic of nightmares. We are talking about the Horner case.

I feel the most sincere disgust for those who published private correspondence (assuming it is not fake), because all the participants in this story have families, children, relatives and friends. Such actions were and remain prohibited practices.

In general, for that matter, this case should be handled by the FIA, Stefano Domenicali and, of course, the Red Bull company, especially since no one went to court, which means there is nothing particularly criminal in it. And let them decide to what extent ethical standards have been violated here, and on this basis make their verdict.

Although this is a very slippery topic, because from the outside everything that is happening seems to be simply a struggle for power. That is why I am completely unhappy with the position that Toto Wolff and Zach Brown have taken, and no one can convince me otherwise.

I read books about animals as a child, and I never liked vultures. Moreover, I want to emphasize that I don’t particularly like Christian Horner either.
