Under the motto “The art of the trade”, the 3rd edition of the Ñuñoa International Book and Reading Festival, FILL 2024, has Uruguay as the guest of honor and in this framework, is pleased to announce the stellar participation of the writer, musician and composer Leo Maslíah.

This event will take place on Friday, March 1 at 8:00 p.m. in the literary space of Ñuñoa (Jorge Washington 116), with free entry for all those who wish to delve into the particularity of this indescribable artist.

Leo Maslíah will present the book “La Bolsa de Garbage”, his first book published in Chile by the Chilean publishing house Pez Espiral.

“The Garbage Bag”, a literary gem that encapsulates Maslíah’s creative genius. A collection of stories whose narrative develops parody, irony and absurdity, based on word games and misunderstandings of all kinds.

This is an anthology that includes texts originally published in iconic works such as ‘The triple mortal jump’ and ‘La miopía de Rodríguez’, as well as in ‘Public telephones’ and that is presented in Chile, marking a milestone in the rich cultural tradition of the country.

Leo Maslíah was born in Montevideo in 1954. Currently, he stands as a colossus in the cultural firmament of the Río de la Plata. His impressive career spans almost fifty books and a discography that reflects the magnitude of his creativity.

In this limited capacity event, Maslíah will delight attendees not only with the presentation of his literary work, but also with a musical performance where he will display his talent as a musician and composer.

Since his debut in 1974, Leo Maslíah has brought his art to stages around the world, from South America to Europe and North America. His contribution to music, which ranges from electroacoustic compositions to popular and classical music albums, has been recognized with awards such as the Gardel in 2008 and 2020. His achievements in literature have placed him among the hundred best figures of Argentine literature according to the Konex Foundation in 1994.

Leo Maslíah’s participation in the 3rd edition of FILL 2024 is an event that underlines his position as an exceptional artist. This literary summit is not only a cultural meeting, but a unique experience to admire the greatness of an artist who has left an indelible mark on the cultural history of Latin America.

The Ñuñoa International Book and Reading Festival will take place from February 29 to March 3 and the world of books will unfold in Plaza Ñuñoa with 60 stands from publishers and distributors, as well as talks, launches, free workshops, music in live and activities in various neighborhoods of the commune.
