Indonesia has not been able to add its representatives to the semifinals All England 2023. The men’s doubles Leo Rolly Carnando / Daniel Marthin were eliminated after being beaten by a Chinese representative.
Leo/Daniel faced Liang Wei Keng/Wang Chang at Field 1 Utilita Arena Birmingham on Friday (17/3/2023). Leo/Daniel came back against their opponents and were forced to defeat in a three-game battle, 21-13, 19-21, 18-21.
With the defeat of Leo/Daniel, Indonesia has only just passed Rehan Naufal Kusharjanto/Lisa Ayu Kusumawati to the last four. The reason is, the women’s doubles Apriyani Rahayu / Siti Fadia Silva Ramadhanti also ran aground.
Leo/Daniel were immediately seven points behind Liang/Wang at 2-9 in the first game. However, Leo/Daniel slowly caught up to the deficit so that they were only 9-11 behind at the interval.
Leo/Daniel grabbed six points in a row to turn around to lead Liang/Wang 15-11. Leo/Daniel encountered no significant obstacles to win the first game 21-13.
Leo/Daniel is again far behind Liang/Wang 1-6. The Leo/Daniel match was shown after the interval to tie the score 13-13. The tight score then happened 14-14, 15-15, then 16-16.
Next Liang/Wang opened the distance to outperform Leo/Daniel by two points. Two mistakes by Daniel gave game points to Liang/Wang 20-17.
Leo/Daniel benefited from two mistakes from the opponent so that the gap was only one point 19-20. Leo/Daniel fell up and down while defending but failed to stop Liang/Wang from winning the second game 21-19.
At the start of the third game, Leo/Daniel chased a 0-4 deficit, before leveling the score 6-6. The match after that was tough and tight with numbers following each other.
Leo/Daniel managed to equalize the score 16-16 before narrowing the gap 17-18. However, Liang/Wang maintained their momentum to win the game 21-17.
