Leo Rolly Carnando/Daniel Martin proud to be able to carry on the tradition of winning titles Indonesia Masters 2023. They are also grateful for the support of all parties at Istora GBK.
Appearing as the only men’s doubles to qualify for the final round of the BWF World Tour Super 500 tournament, Leo/Daniel successfully defeated Liu Sheng Shu/Zhang Shu Xian, in two straight games. They won over the Chinese men’s doubles with a score of 21-17. 21-16.
Their success has also continued the tradition previously created by Fajar Alfian/Muhammad Rian Ardianto at last year’s edition of the Indonesia Masters.
“We thank God. Thank you also for those who were present at SItora to support us. Finally, the men’s doubles continues the tradition of becoming champions, so hopefully in the future we can produce another title,” said Daniel.
Long before Leo/Daniel reached the final, the seniors, Hendra Setiawan et al, had already been eliminated at the 2023 Indonesia Masters. On that matter, both Leo and Daniel said they were not burdened at all.
They said that from the start they had evaluated the results of last year’s Indonesia Masters, the gold medalist at the 2021 SEA Games in Vietnam was stopped in the round of 16.
“Actually there is no burden, yes, instead we want to show we can. Because our previous results were not good, so we try to keep trying, to win and communicate,” said Daniel.
Leo said the same thing. He also thanked the Indonesian badminton fans who continued to support the Red and White players.
“Anyway, I thank the supporters of all the Indonesian people both at Istora and outside. Anyway, don’t stop supporting me and Daniel and other athletes,” said Leo.
The title at the Indonesia Masters is also their capital to give better results. Moreover, starting next May the calculation of Olympic points has already begun.
“All players have the chance to be able to play in the Olympics. Yes, we will keep trying. Who knows,” said Daniel.
