It was 2009 when, in a self-certification sent to the Local Health Authority and the Municipality of Rome, one of the owners of the studio in via Cesare Pavese in Rome, Eur area, he assured that no interventions would be carried out there but only checks before and after the interventions.
But in that very studio where “it was not possible to operate”, as established by administrative investigations, Margaret Spada, just 22 years old, underwent surgery on November 4th.
There she began to feel ill, as evidenced by a video shot by her boyfriend, and then died in hospital. In the same self-certification the holder provided all his academic qualifications, as well as the degree in medicine in Padua and also one to qualify in Verona specialization in plastic surgery obtained at the Catholic University of Rio de Janeiro in Brazil, detail added in pen.
The son, however, graduated in Romania and did not continue with his specialization, therefore he would not be authorized to perform surgery. In the sea of papers that are emerging from the checks also ordered by the Region, the troubled history of the studio which also had many patients thanks also to social media.
In 2008 the studio was subject to a closure order because without authorization and even in this case, in the counter-arguments, the owner claims that the studio “never came into operation”, adding however that it had the requirements to be eligible, requesting the dismissal of the case. And he underlines: “only visits take place here.” And again: one of the owners of the firm, based on administrative checks carried out in 2023, had no specialisation and could not perform cosmetic/plastic surgery not for reconstructive purposes.
Margaret Spada: shadows and doubts about the Procopio centre
In fact, it emerged that the Procopio medical center had already been reported in 2023 anonymously due to irregularities.
According to what was reported by La Repubblica, last year the Medical Association had received an anonymous complaint, which denounced the center owned by Marco and Marco Antonio Procopio.

The anonymous report spoke of invasive interventions, which normally cannot be performed in an outpatient setting in aesthetic medicine studies.
What emerged from the investigations

The work of the investigators, however, has taken place ended with nothing done, given that in the end the report ended without any suspects. As Domenico Oropallo, the Procopios’ lawyer, also had the opportunity to point out, the inspections (which took place months before Margaret Spada’s death) had not revealed any irregularities.
The prosecutor’s investigation
The investigation at the Public Prosecutor’s Office in Rome will have to take into account the administrative documents also in view of the hearing of the two doctors, father and son, owners of the practice to which the 22-year-old had turned.
The autopsy on the young woman had shown that her death occurred in a “compromised general situation” which culminated in cardiac arrest. One death arrived on November 7 after three days of agony. Now toxicological and histological tests will help to understand what was administered to the girl before and after the illness while the organ analyzes will point to clarify the existence of cardiac pathologies and check for any intolerances to substances used for anesthesia.
