The production of Lentilky chocolate candies in the Czech Republic comes to an end. After more than 110 years, the popular sweets will be produced in Hamburg, Germany – information from the Czech radio station Radiozurnal confirmed Nestle.

Production in Hamburg is expected to start next spring.

Lentilky move to Germany
The reason is, among others recipe change. “We are standardizing the recipe for Lentils and Smarties, which means that there will be less sugar and more chocolate in Lentilki, which was determined on the basis of consumer tests,” Vratislav Janda, Corporate Director at Nestle, told the Czech station.

Another reason is the packaging change. Lentils are to be packed in paper tubes. Meanwhile, as reported, the production requirements can currently only be met in Hamburg. – We want to pack Lentilky in paper packaging, which requires appropriate technology. We do not have such machines in the Czech Republic, they are in Hamburg – pointed out Janda.
–
According to Nestle, moving production to Germany will not change the price of the product in stores.

The Czech radio station Radiozurnal pointed out that changes in production are also taking place in other food companies. For example, five years ago, Mondelez Czech Republic moved the production of Opavia biscuits to Poland. Likewise, the Hame company no longer produces cucumbers in Znojmo, but in Bzenec, about a hundred kilometers away.
