RC Lens supporters are prohibited from traveling for Friday’s match in Montpellier, according to a prefectural decree taken in line with the recommendations made by the Minister of Sports. Amélie Oudéa-Castéra explained on Tuesday that it was necessary “decide on a moratorium on fan travel”affirming “that we cannot accept this situation”.
The decree of the Hérault prefecture was motivated by the “repeated nature of events likely to disturb public order since the launch of the French Football Championship” this season. If the prefect recognizes the non-existence “disputes between supporters of the two clubs”he estimated “necessary to take appropriate police measures”.
On December 18, a meeting will bring together the National Supporterism Authority (INS), the Professional Football League (LFP) and the Ministries of the Interior, Justice and Sports.
