We tried it for a couple of weeks: walking around it, as far as possible in the red / orange zone where we are, satisfactory. The X1 Fold applies very well to needs of smart working not (only) at home, with the granting of moments of leisure on the same device, and the wow effect among those present ensured. And if this innovation perfectly complies with the needs of the new normality, that is, a versatile device for the decentralized professional or for the different needs of a family called en masse to digital (plus the touch needs of the younger generation), it must be said that the Fold was actually conceived in the research and development offices of the Chinese giant in 2016. If you can’t resist it, and you can afford it, do well: the X1 Fold is a great product. Of course, it must be said that the integrated bluetooth keyboard – a thin layer of well-structured plastic, with mini-usb and pen holder – a bit small, because designed to merge into the closed pc block. But getting used to it is enough, and using a standard size keyboard when the Fold becomes just a screen – maintained vertically from the support integrated into the leather cover – when used as a fixed station. In this setting it becomes interesting to use the X1 also as a sole computing unit: closed and stored in a drawer or on the shelves of a library, we tested it with a bluetooth mouse and keyboard and connected to a monitor such as the ThinkVision T27h – also it under test: a real spectacle -, and the effect as well as a bit magical (the computer is there but you can’t see it) perfectly functional.

For fans of technical specifications, the ThinkPad X1 Fold is equipped with an Intel i5 processor and 8 mega RAM, has a solid state drive ranging from 256 gigabytes to 1 terabyte of space depending on the version, two USB-C ports (both can be used to connect it to the mains), a port for Sim mini and a Dolby Atmos audio system. The screen as mentioned is an oled (from LG) 4: 3 (open), touch with a resolution of 2048×1536. The 50 Wh battery e it tends to be short-lived if the pc used consistently.
