Lenovo sues Asus for patent infringement

The Chinese computer manufacturer Lenovo right now the Taiwanese computer manufacturer Asus for patent infringement linked to the company’s hardware and software as well as connection technology, reports The Register.

Lenovo writes that the lawsuit is in response to documents related to cellular technology that Asus submitted to the regional court in Munich in August 2023. The court is Germany’s largest when it comes to patents. Lenovo claims that it previously offered cross-licensing as a solution but now writes that it feels compelled to sue Asus.

The company wants the US International Trade Commission to temporarily bar accused Asus products, such as computers, tablets, desktops and routers, from being sold in the US. Lenovo also wants Asus to pay damages, including lost profits.

Asus themselves say that they will protect their rights in accordance with the law, but that they cannot give specific comments regarding the case.
