Lenovo resumes sales of laptops, desktops and tablets in Germany – IT Pro – News

The German court allows Lenovo to sell laptops, desktops and tablets again. The manufacturer may do so as long as the case is appealing against the sales stop. Lenovo is in a patent battle with Nokia in Germany.

Lenovo restarted selling laptops, desktops and tablets through its German website on Monday and the manufacturer will resupply stores. The manufacturer confirms this to Heise. On October 22, Lenovo stopped selling those products in Germany because it was ordered by a judge. That decision has been challenged by Lenovo and the Munich court has now ruled that Lenovo may continue to sell products while the proceedings are ongoing.

Nokia has sued Lenovo in Germany for using the H.264 video codec. According to it Foss Patents-blog Finnish Nokia has recently started cashing in on patents it holds. The company may want to generate new income that way. Nokia has also sued car maker Daimler in another case. Lenovo says in a statement that it is almost certain that Nokia’s charge will not hold up in the appeal.
