The controversy caused by reggaeton singer Lenier Mesa when he traveled to Cuba for the Santa María Music Fest has cost him a lot of his public image, from the loss of followers to losing the support of his colleagues and the government itself.
The singer has not stopped receiving criticism from all angles, and one of the real consequences he faced for his trip to Cayo Santa María was the veto of the mayor of Hialeah, Esteban Bovo, who described the act of the reggaeton player as “shameful”.
But Mesa did not remain silent, and now he has come out to defend himself, accusing the same mayor of hypocritical behavior, since he affirms that he first refused any political issue and now he is offended by his trip to the communist Island.
According to him, during the concert on July 4, Bovo forbade him to talk about any political issue and/or mention the Cuban leader Miguel Díaz-Canel, while he now pretends to be on the side of the Cuban people.
Likewise, he took the opportunity to try to sell his grandfather’s excuse again, as he had previously done in a video that angered the oppositionwho considered the justification as a mockery of his intelligence.
And it is that while Mesa assures that he was only in Miami for one day and that he used it to see his grandfather in Güines, this city is almost 5 hours from Cayo Santa María, where they come from all his images with his friends Tekashi 6ix9ine and Yailin La Más Viral, partying and with more than one change of clothes.
“What are they questioning me if it was the only thing I did, go see my grandfather,” said Lenier, interviewed by the influencer Eliécer Ávila.
When Eliécer questioned his presence on the key, and in the residence where Tekashi stayed with Yailin, occupied as a summer home by Díaz-Canel, his family and the Castros, Lenier tried to victimize himself and insisted that he only went to see his sick grandfather, taking advantage of the fact that Tekashi was going to the country on a private plane.
“Something is going to happen to my grandfather, he is going to die, and what is going to happen is that, because of all this that has taken place, I will not be able to go in to see my grandfather,” he lamented.
Questions and criticism of Lenier have come from many angles. The co-author of what is considered an opposition anthem homeland and life, Yotuel Romero, asked him not to use the well-known opposition slogan anymorenoting that his “apology” video did not delete anything.
For her part, The Goddess withdrew her support, and after he blocked her from social networks because of the claims she has made to him for her tripthe singer responded by claiming that he only used her and her opposition theme, Cuba Firstin order to pay off his debts.
