Lene Alexandra Øien: European Bench Press Champion and Overcoming Injury

Now training profile and coach Lene Alexandra Øien (41) can reveal that she has become European bench press champion after a lift of 92.5 kilograms. She shared the news on Instagram.

– Had to shed a few tears

In addition to listing a number of awards she has won this year, Øien can reveal that she completed the European Championship with a broken rib.

“Now I’m going to take a few weeks off training so the rib fracture can heal and then I’m going on new adventures,” she writes on Instagram.

– Completely forgot about it

To Se og Hør, the 41-year-old can tell that the injury came just over a week before the championship.

– I asked the man I train with to tighten my belt, but it got a bit hard.

She suffered a broken rib, which made it difficult to sleep and turn around.

– I have a tendency to push boundaries, says the mental trainer.

Fortunately, Øien has learned some techniques after 12 years as a coach. She managed to block out all the pain as she took the heavy lift during the championship.

– It’s fun to think big, and I’m passionate about making the impossible possible.

– I was gang-raped

Uncertain about the future

Now the 41-year-old is very satisfied, because the “European champion” title was the goal.

– I work to make people a stronger version of themselves, and then it’s extra fun to compete alongside myself. I learn an incredible amount from the pressure that is during the competitions.
