2022 – the year that if I had the choice to happen to me again the same way, with the same decisions, events, mistakes and meaning, or to change it completely, I would choose the first one again a thousand times!
This is how Petkov’s former chief of staff Lena Borisslavova defines the last 12 months. She made a personal assessment on her Facebook profile and quoted the writer Georgi Gospodinov: “A collection of different coincidences that give rise to a series of necessities”.
“It makes sense that for the first time in the Bulgarian parliament there will be as many as 73 “crazy” deputies for a change (after two consecutive elections!);
It makes sense that we have ceased to fear that if we take a clear stand against the aggressor and warmonger Putin, who attacked Ukraine, killed more than 40,000 civilians and declared Bulgaria an enemy state, our world will not end. There will be Bulgarians.
It makes sense that for the first time a Bulgarian government would protect Bulgaria’s interests by providing alternative supplies of natural gas and speak in unison with Europe about sanctions against the warmonger.
It makes sense to be part of a team that nobody can buy because it is founded honestly and openly, without promises made in dark rooms or illegal warehouses; a team not run by a pumpkin bully from Bankya; a team that has free will, a head on their shoulders and a dream bigger than their own interests, a dream they keep fighting for.
Here because! That’s why I didn’t give up. That’s why we won’t give up. That’s why 2022 was needed,” Lena wrote in her post.
