Leonard “Len” Christon (* 14. Juni 1906 in Skelton-in-Cleveland; † 1988)[1] was an English footballer.
Christon, a powerfully built centre-forward, played for in his homeland Brottonbefore leaving in July 1926[2] Appealed to Durham City as an amateur. He took part in an internal test match during the pre-season[3] but soon returned to his home region and played for Carlin How. In March 1928 he made a fresh start with a Football League club, playing regularly for Hartlepools United on an amateur basis for the North Eastern League reserve team.[2]
After good performances in the pre-season, including scoring two goals in a club friendly,[4] Christon signed a professional contract in August 1928 for the 1928–29 season.[5] He was on the first two days of the Football League Third Division North in the team, but did not score his own goal. A 2-2 draw against Nelson FC was followed by an 8-0 defeat by Carlisle United. Club officials then decided to sign centre-forward Tucker Mordue for £100.[6] From then on, Mordue occupied the center forward position, Christon stayed until his departure in 1929[7] only for use by the reserve team.[2]
