During the refurbishment, the station hall will be enlarged and the hall will have a full glass facade. On the south side of the station there will be a guarded and covered bicycle shed for approximately 2800 bicycles. On the north side there will be a bicycle parking space for about a thousand bicycles, as a result of which the bicycle racks will disappear.
‘Complexity’
The tram stops at the stations are also being tackled. The stops under the viaduct on Cornelis Lelylaan will be made wider and more accessible. In addition, the station will have a ‘turning loop’, making it a terminus for trams from Nieuw-West and the center.
“The renewal of the Lelylaan station is urgently needed. It no longer meets current requirements. In addition, the number of travelers is expected to grow significantly in the next ten years. The renewal of the station will also significantly improve the quality of life and social safety in the area. the station environment”, says alderman Egbert de Vries (Traffic and Transport).
