Lelde from “Voice in a Mask” Talks About the Relief of Being Unmasked

Lelde, like others whose participation in the musical show “Voice in a Mask” has ended, does not hide – the unmasking is a relief. “It wasn’t easy to keep such a fact a secret. Mostly I received messages from my family, and the question was: why didn’t you tell us sooner, because then we would have watched this show even more intensively and more carefully,” says Lelde.

Only her husband Aivis knew that Lelde had agreed to participate in the “Balsi masque”; it would be extremely difficult to hide it from the spouse “because the filming days were long and it was impossible to disappear like that”.

Lelde did not reveal his secret to the other family members and excused himself by filming his program on television during his absence.

Asked how difficult or easy it was to agree to participate in the show, Lelde says: “The show is interesting and an opportunity to hit the stage and get into some kind of character, and it was clear to me that this adventure should be accepted. That’s why I also agreed, despite the fact that it’s extremely time management. Of course, the production team was very accommodating and tried to help in every way.”

Singing was no less a challenge for Lelde. “Singing to your children or singing along with your friends to well-known hits is very simple and straightforward, no questions asked.

But singing in public on a show is absolutely out of my comfort zone.

I have sung sometime as a child in ensembles, in a choir, but of course it is not solo singing, it is absolutely something else. So the singing part was very challenging, it gave me a lot of anxiety because of course I was worried about how it would sound. Maija Sējėne and Gatis Zaķis tried very hard to help.”
