Fürth – The Fürth coach Stefan Leitl has sharply criticized his defense after the 3: 6 (1: 2) against TSG 1899 Hoffenheim.
“I’m really pissed off,” admitted the coach of the bottom of the table. “If you present yourself like that in the chain of defense, it’s just not enough.” After their eleventh defeat in the Bundesliga, Leitl announced successively that they would put their fingers in the wound “brutally” and clearly address the deficits.
“At the moment it is not suitable for the Bundesliga if you conceded so many goals,” stated the coach. Goalkeeper Marius Funk took Leitl out of his general criticism of the defensive. The 44-year-old is hoping the injured missing center-backs Nick Viergever, Gideon Jung and Justin Hoogma will return quickly.
Leitl could not really explain the many mistakes on the defensive at the moment. “I don’t have a single approach now,” he said after his 100th competitive game as Fürth coach. Perhaps it is due to the “mental capacity” of some players who are not yet able to cope with the game, which is much faster than in the 2nd Bundesliga.
