From March 16 to May 11, the high rope course “Frankenturm” in Eibelstadt – like all leisure facilities in Bavaria – had to take a forced break due to Corona. This comes from a press release.
Its operators Carmen Schuppe-Michel and Gunter Schuppe hit this hard. The high school teacher and the experiential teacher had only opened the “Frankenturm” last autumn, thereby fulfilling the dream of independence. The high ropes course was created according to a modular system that is distributed worldwide.
The largest area is in Eibelstadt. A visit to the high ropes course shows that the operators have invested heavily: In addition to the “Frankenturm” with two climbing platforms at five and ten meters, there is a snack bar and a beach lounge to relax in, including the necessary sanitary facilities. The warehouse and office complete the facility.
Restart to Corona
For the time being, the second step is to revitalize the area on the Würzburg-Ochsenfurt bike path. The prerequisites for this have been created: The corona requirements specified by the regulatory office have been met, nearby parking spaces ensure that the “Frankenturm” can be reached by car. Bicycle stands and eight e-bike stations on the premises delight cyclists.
With more than 60 stations on two levels, climbing fun is offered for every level of difficulty. You can even cycle at lofty heights, including rowing and bobby car driving. A special feature of the “Frankenturm” is that there is no fixed course, but every climber can choose his own personal route. Individual breaks are also possible.
District Administrator Thomas Eberth was impressed at the on-site visit by the Eibelstadt high ropes course: “The Schuppe-Michel couple did great things here. I am very pleased to know such courageous people in the Würzburg district. “
New advertising concepts in demand
Carmen Schuppe-Michel explains why she and her husband have to break new ground in marketing this year: “Team training, company events and group events are not yet possible. That is why we are currently concentrating on increasing the number of walk-in customers and making us aware of them through targeted advertising measures. ”This includes the signposts along the cycle path as well as contacting clubs and fire departments to offer training and climbing fun in small groups, according to the message.
Individual coaching is also possible, both for young people and adults. There are also offers for people with disabilities and cooperation with medical practices for joint health care is in the starting blocks. Michael Dröse, business promoter of the district of Würzburg, assured himself that he would like to find out more about other advertising concepts.
The couple also have ideas for unusual events: readings on the illuminated platforms are planned as well as night climbing and live concerts. “The artist scene is currently suffering because indoor venues cannot yet be used as usual. With our outdoor offer, we can offer the artists an alternative, in compliance with the current hygiene regulations.
Mayor Markus Schenk is glad that the Schuppe-Michel couple with their “Frankenturm” have settled in Eibelstadt after a long search for a location: “We already have some attractions in Eibelstadt with the terroir f, our vineyards and the historic old town. Now the “Frankenturm” has been added and the Mainlände is to be opened in autumn. An adventure and local recreation area is being created there on the banks of the Eibelstadt Main – we would then like to combine all these offers with one another for tourism. “
