The nominal “top game” of the cup games on Saturday took place in Nuremberg, 1. FCN had RB Leipzig as a guest. The match was particularly spicy because club coach Robert Klauß had worked for the Saxons for a long time as an assistant to Ralf Rangnick and Julian Nagelsmann. But the insider knowledge should not pay off for long, after only a few minutes Haidara used a gross blunder by FCN keeper Mathenia to lead the Champions League semi-finalist (3rd). Leipzig remained the better team, but it took until the 67th minute before Poulsen calmed the nerves of the favorites. Hwang made the final 3-0 score in the final minute.
Silva and Dost match winners for Frankfurt in 1860
The match between 1860 Munich and Eintracht Frankfurt was exciting. The third division team posed a number of problems for the Bundesliga team at their home in Grünwalder Stadium. Especially in the first round the lions stood up and even had an increase in chances. After the break, the harmony came up better, a nice Dost preparatory work refined Silva to lead for the Hessians (51.). Only five minutes later, Dost personally increased to 2-0. After the break, the game took its course, Gerhardt (60th) and Guilavogui (74th) shot out the 4-1 victory.
Cologne in a goal mood even without Cordoba
The greatest excitement in the game VSG Altglienicke against 1. FC Köln was practically before the game. Greuther Fürth has to go into extra time
Two second division clubs held each other more or less harmless against upper division clubs. The VfL Bochum jumped the hurdle Engers with 3: 0 relatively sovereign, the VfL Osnabrück struggled to a 1: 0 against death fields. The underdog was cheered on by the local fire department in full gear. In Fürth, the SpVgg had to go into overtime against RSV Meinerzhagen when the score was 1: 1. There the second division retained the upper hand with a clear 6: 1.
118.! Union celebrates late – Ulm throws Aue out
Union Berlin struggled on Saturday night in the second cup round. The Bundesliga team had to go into extra time in Karlsruhe, but was able to avoid the penalty shoot-out with a Schlotterbeck hit almost with the final whistle. Fortuna Düsseldorf could rely on an ex-Schanzer against third division Ingolstadt: Pledl scored the goal of the day for the second division ten minutes before the end. With Aue, however, a second division team got hit: the Erzgebirge lost 2-0 at the fourth division Ulm.
