Leipzig starts with a victory, Stuttgart falls to Freiburg

After Bayer Leverkusen’s hard-fought victory over Borussia M’Gladbach (3-2), the first day of the Bundesliga continued this Saturday with the traditional multiplex and five matches. At the Red Bull Arena, RB Leipzig, led by Xavi Simons, Lois Openda and Benjamin Sesko, secured the essentials against Bochum (1-0) for their first match. Dominant, Marco Rose’s men finally found the fault in the second half thanks to Nusa (59th) before finishing the match with a man down after Willi Orban received a red card (85th). For their part, Mainz conceded a draw against Union Berlin (1-1) despite Amiri’s opening goal (53rd).

The sensation of last season, VfB Stuttgart, for its part, experienced its first setback. Despite Demirovic’s early opening goal (2nd), the visitors ultimately fell (1-3) against Freiburg after Kübler’s double (26th) and a goal from Doan (54th). In the other matches, Augsburg conceded a draw (2-2) against Werder Bremen. Finally, Hoffenheim, carried by Kramaric’s hat-trick (6th, 37th), did not miss its debut against promoted Holstein Kiel (3-2) and provisionally takes third place in the championship, just behind Bayer and Freiburg.
