Leipzig, provisional Bundesliga leader after winning 1-0 against Heidenheim

Paris. Leipzig became the provisional leader of the Bundesliga this Sunday by winning 1-0 in Heidenheim, on the sixth round of the German championship.

RB, who have not yet known defeat in the domestic championship, are one point ahead of Bayern Munich, who will try to regain the lead on their visit to Frankfurt this Sunday to clash swords with Eintracht (3rd) in the star match of the weekend in Germany.

Without being brilliant, Leipzig closed its week with a better taste in its mouth than the one left four days ago by the defeat at home against Juventus in the Champions League (3-2).

This Sunday, the team led by Marco Rose had to wait until the 42nd minute to enjoy their first truly dangerous opportunity. Leipzig attacking midfielder Xavi Simons presented himself to the Heidenheim goalkeeper, but Kevin Müller took the lead.

Leipzig thought they had opened the can when they returned from the locker room, but Benjamin Sesko’s header from a corner was annulled after consulting with the VAR (53) due to a foul by the Slovenian.

Leipzig’s liberation came from its Belgian striker Louis Openda. Enabled by a deep ball from Antonio Nusa, the former Lens player scored his fourth league goal (59).

Jan Schöppner almost equalized for Heidenheim but his long-range shot found the crossbar (68th).

Shortly after, Simons missed a chance to sentencing.

In the final stretch of the match the locals tried hard to equalize, but RB goalkeeper Peter Gulacsi saved his team with a double save (73), and with another intervention in added time (90+3).
