A total of 69 productions were proposed for the Grimme Prize this year.

The MDR is entering the race for the 16 prizes with five nominees: In the fiction category, the MDR is on the nomination list with the Dresden “Tatort: Parasomnia” and the web series “2 Minuten”.

In the “Children & Youth” category, the animated film “Fritzi – Eine Wendewundergeschichte” and the doppelganger story “Unheimlich Perfekt Freunde” can hope for the prestigious television award.

“Bauerfeind – Die Show zum Frau” was nominated in the “Entertainment” category.

This honors two productions that explicitly come from Dresden. The horror thriller “Parasomnia”, broadcast on November 15th, underlines the increased quality of the “Tatort” from Dresden.

The turbulent animated film “Fritzi”, which tells the peaceful revolution in Leipzig in 1989 from a child’s perspective, comes from the production forge of Dresdner Balance Film and has already received several international awards.

The winners of the 57th Grimme Prize will be announced on May 11th.
