Leif Einar «Lothepus» Lothe (52) ran away with both the victory and the viewers’ hearts as participants in “The Farm Celebrity” in 2017. In retrospect, the 52-year-old has been seen on screen a number of times, including in “Camp Kulinaris” and “Sofa”.
Now the star appears once again on TV, and this time in his own program. In the TV 2 series «Lothepus camping» we follow Lothe’s latest project: He wants to build «Norway’s roughest campsite».
The 52-year-old has had a big dream for his hometown Odda all his life. The village needs development, more jobs and more tourism, he believes.
– We are following the development of me building a new campsite. It will be Norway’s toughest, Lothepus tells Dagbladet.
Stave church and excavator museum
“Lothepus camping” involves, among other things, a completely separate stave church, according to the TV profile.
In addition, a longhouse, small airport, via ferrata, gondola, excavator museum and restaurant are expected, according to a press release from TV 2.
–
The idea of ”Norway’s roughest campsite” has always been part of Odda’s eldest son’s plans. Several years ago he wanted to build a small replica, but now he has thrown himself around to build a campsite in a large, authentic size.
And to the delight of the citizens of Odda, we must believe the 52-year-old.
– They are very happy that we are cleaning up!
Took a chance
At “Lothepus camping”, the main character himself has gathered a group of workers to realize his dream.
However, the construction of the square does not take place without challenges. In the middle of the pandemic, the first sod is put in place, but then without a single approval in place.
– I drive and control it all the time, but there is so much. The municipality is one thing, but also the county and environmental protection, and many other things.
– Yes, it may be, but it is now approved in the end. I’m absolutely sure.
– Exciting environments
Program editor in TV 2, Kathrine Haldorsen, explains the “Lothepus camping” initiative by saying that Lothe in previous series on the channel has proven to be a character with great appeal to many of the viewers.
– We also think it is important to be able to show exciting environments in the districts. In “Lothepus camping” we meet a rich gallery with many other great personalities, and the rural community Odda gives the series a beautiful setting, rooted in something that is genuine and real, she says in a press release from TV 2.
