After a season in the ‘Championship’ (English Second Division), Leicester mathematically certified its promotion to the Premier League this Friday after Queens Park Rangers’ victory (4-0) over Leeds United.
The men led by Enzo Maresca managed to climb the category without playing their match of the day. The ‘Championship’ consists of 46 games and it is materially impossible for Leeds, with 90 points in 45 duels, to equal Leicester’s 94.
In England, two teams are promoted directly and from third to sixth they compete in the playoffs. At the moment, Leicester is the leader and First Division team with 94 points in 44 games; Leeds, with 45 games, accumulates 90 points compared to Ipswich’s 89, which has 43 points and could surpass Leeds in the standings this weekend if it wins at home to Hull.
