Leicester –
Leicester City it is indeed on fire after the turn of the year and continues to enliven the top competition. But, at the same time Jamie Vardy instead memble.
Since the New Year, Leicester have lost only two of their last 12 Premier League matches. The rest of Leicester won seven and drew three, including beating Liverpool and Chelsea.
As a result, Brendan Rodgers’ troops are now in third place in the standings with 56 points, only one point difference from Manchester United in second place. This slick performance is Leicester’s capital to be able to stay in the top four and qualify for the Champions League next season.
Uniquely behind Leicester’s steady pace, Vardy, who is usually a goal machine, has difficulty breaking into the opponent’s goal. Since Boxing Day, Vardy has only scored one goal, namely in a 3-1 win over Leicester.
This is the worst period in Vardy’s career and even he was only able to improve his bad record through two assists, when Leicester won 5-0 over Sheffield United on Sunday (14/3/2021) yesterday evening.
Fortunately, when Vardy missed scoring goals, other players like Harvey Barnes, James Maddison, Wilfried Ndidi, Youri Tielemans, and even Kelechi Iheanacho were able to replace his duties.
Iheanacho is on fire because he has been able to score six goals since early February including a hat-trick against Sheffield. Therefore Rodgers as manager is not worried about Vardy’s goal draw period and believes his player can contribute in other ways.
“I am still satisfied with his performance. You can see that the combination of Jamie and Kelechi is very good,” Rodgers said as quoted by the Mirror.
“Jamie always has that and sometimes gets forgotten, because people are too focused on his goals,” he continued.
“He also often assists too. His two passes which led to Kel’s goal were incredible. He also made other chances and he was so threatening throughout the match.”
“He’s not just a goal and can contribute more than that.”
Jamie Vardy have scored 12 goals in the Premier League this season and the next test is to find the top of Manchester City’s goal next week.
