The Lego image of André Hazes that was ‘kidnapped’ from Dam Square in Amsterdam just after Christmas is back. The New Year’s Eve association from the Frisian village of Oldeberkoop, which was responsible for the theft, brought the statue back the past day.
The life-size statue was taken on the night of December 27 to 28 brought. It turned out to be a stunt by New Year’s Eve association De Geitefok. The members promised to bring the statue back in the foreseeable future.
The past day they put the statue back on the Dam, writes NH News. The association had brought a few bottles of Berenburg for Won Yip, the catering entrepreneur on whose initiative the Lego statue was created last summer.
‘A little bit of happiness back’
Yip can laugh at the stunt. “It’s back. That’s great,” he says to the local broadcaster AT5. “Another piece of cheerfulness back in the city. And we could use that.”
The statue of Hazes will remain on Dam Square for a few more days, and will then be placed in the office of the catering entrepreneur for an indefinite period. “Because it’s too cold for him now.”
