“Lego Grandma” Uses Colorful Stones to Ensure Accessibility: The Success Story of Rita Ebel

Rita Ebel wants to ensure accessibility with colorful stones. The Hessin showed in Stadthagen how Lego blocks can be used to create wheelchair ramps.

Stadthagen. Lego grandma Rita Ebel is as fun-loving as her colorful ramps – these should enable wheelchair users to overcome small barriers such as steps in buildings. And since this connection works so well together, it has also become quite successful and a minor celebrity. The 65-year-old from Hanau, Hesse, doesn’t want to earn money with her Lego ramps: “I want to attract attention, break down inhibitions in people’s minds and of course achieve accessibility for everyone,” says Ebel.
