The development of digital payment methods, such as the Quick Response Code Indonesian Standard (QRIS), can help strengthen Indonesia’s micro, small, and medium enterprise (MSME) sector, according to Mukhamad Misbakhun, a member of Commission IX of the House of Representatives in Indonesia. The use of QRIS has become increasingly widespread among MSMEs, including traders at traditional and modern markets, with over 20.5 million MSMEs using it as of October 2022. Misbakhun also called for government budget and policy affirmation for MSMEs, with the government allotting Rp45.8 trillion for the MSME sector and providing programs such as credit restructuring and interest subsidies. Commission XI of the DPR will continue to monitor the government’s efforts to support the strengthening of MSMEs’ role.
