Legislative: like many cities, Montluçon (Allier) has been faced with a lack of assessors

As in the rest of France, the 21,448 inhabitants of Montluçon are called to the polls to elect the deputy for the 2nd district of Allier this Sunday, June 12.

Highly sought-after assessors in Montluçon as in the big cities

Although the number of polling stations has increased from 27 to 23 this year, and for the legislative elections neither of the two towers falls during holidays, finding assessors is still a challenge in large cities such as Montluçon.

In the various polling stations, the involvement of municipal agents is underlined to allow the holding of elections. “At each election, it is complicated to find assessors. Fortunately, the municipal agents are there to help us. »

Political parties solicited, but not always present

In an office in the city center, there are also protests about the lack of support from certain candidates.

“In Montluçon, of the thirteen candidates who present themselves, only one provides assessors. We understand that isolated candidates cannot propose any, but on the part of more structured parties, this is not correct. »

A very supervised participation

If the assessors were present despite everything, the main fear in the polling stations, Sunday morning, was the risk of abstention.

The situations varied from one site to another. “We are satisfied for the moment. Participation is continuous. We are already at about 10% participation at 9:30 a.m. ”

Most office presidents preferred to remain calm. “We will see the participation at the end of the day. It is difficult to predict what the voters will do, ”they say.

In 2017, turnout in the first legislative elections was 44.81% in Montluçon and 50.65% across the second constituency of Allier.
