As a reminder, Europe Ecology-The Greens obtained 100 constituencies at national level, the Socialist Party 70 and the Communist Party 50.
In 93, LFI takes the lion’s share
In Seine-Saint-Denis, where Jean-Luc Mélenchon was a hit in the first round of the presidential election with 49.09% of the vote, LFI candidates are invested in 9 constituencies.
The four outgoing LFI deputies had already been invested for a long time: Eric Coquerel in the 1st constituency (Epinay, Ile-Saint-Denis, Saint-Ouen), Bastien Lachaud in the 6th (Aubervilliers, Pantin), Alexis Corbière in the 7th (Bagnolet, Montreuil) and Clémentine Autain in the 11th (Sevran, Tremblay-en-France, Villepinte).
Nupes has also invested two other LFI candidates. In the 10th constituency (Aulnay-sous-Bois, South-East of Bondy, Les Pavillons-sous-Bois), Nadège Abomangoli will have the difficult task of facing the outgoing deputy Les Républicains, Alain Ramadier. Raquel Garrido will present herself in the 5th constituency (Bobigny, Le Bourget, Drancy) where Jean-Christophe Lagarde, president of the Union of Democrats and Independents (UDI), is seeking a 5th term.
Two personalities who arrived more recently in the ranks of the Popular Union are also campaigning in Seine-Saint-Denis. In the 9th constituency (Gagny, Rosny-sous-Bois, Villemomble), Aurélie Trouvou, former president then spokesperson for Attac, who became president of the parliament of the Popular Union of LFI in December, will take over from Sabine Rubin who does not show up. For his part, Thomas Portes, former spokesperson for Sandrine Rousseau (EELV) who joined the Popular Union in December, will be opposed to the outgoing deputy La République en Marche (LREM) Patrice Anato in the 3rd constituency (Gournay-sur- Marne, Neuilly-Plaisance, Neuilly-sur-Marne, Noisy-le-Grand).
Little room for the allies in Seine-Saint-Denis
As in 2017, the candidate of the French Communist Party (PCF) in the 2nd constituency (Pierrefitte, fraction of Saint-Denis, Villetaneuse) received the support of the LFI. La Nupes thus invested Stéphane Peu (PCF) candidate for his succession. In the 4th constituency (Le Blanc-Mesnil, La Courneuve, Dugny, Stains) the situation is more complex. After the last-minute withdrawal of Zahia Nedjar, first deputy mayor of Stains, Azzedine Taïbi, presented her candidacy and was nominated, by vote, at the end of April, PCF candidate with Marie-George Buffet as alternate who did not wish represent oneself. During an internal consultation, the sections of Blanc-Mesnil, Dugny and La Courneuve apparently disavowed the process. At 12:30 p.m., Monday April 9, the PCF 93 federation issued a press release indicating that Soumya Bourouaha, currently deputy to MP Marie-George Buffet, was invested in the name of the agreements with LFI.
While the departmental council is led by the PS, only one constituency has however been entrusted to the rose party. And for the invested candidate, Fatiha Keloua-Hachi, opposition municipal councilor for the town hall of Rosny-sous-Bois, the challenge promises to be difficult to meet. In the 8th constituency (Gagny, Rosny-sous-Bois, Villemomble), her opponent will be the outgoing MP Sylvie Charrière (LREM).
In the 12th constituency (Clichy, Coubron, Livry-Gargan, Montfermeil, Le Raincy, Vaujours), it was the leader of LFI Joffrey Demangel who had to face Stéphane Testé, the outgoing deputy. Finally it is Jérôme Legrave, national secretary of the POI, who was invested by the Nupes.
