Legislative 2022 in Seine-Saint-Denis: the presidential majority invests 10 candidates

14 days before the deadline for submitting candidacies for the legislative elections, the presidential majority yesterday invested almost all of its candidates in Seine-Saint-Denis. It’s under the Together! that they will attack the 12 constituencies of the department during the first round of the legislative elections on 12th June next. The confederation brings together the president’s party which becomes Renaissance (ex-La République en Marche), Horizons founded by former Prime Minister Edouard Philippe and the Democratic Movement (Modem) by François Bayrou.

Preserve the three circos won in 2017

In a department where nearly one in two voters voted for Jean-Luc Mélenchon (49.09% of the vote) in the first round of the presidential election, the challenge is daunting for the candidates of Ensemble!

Unsurprisingly, the deputies Sylvie Charrière and Stéphane Testé, walkers of the first hour, present themselves again in their constituency, respectively the 8th and the 12th. On the other hand, the absence of Patrice Anato, deputy of the 3th constituency, on this list of 187 names, apparently caused a stir. “Many are worried that they haven’t seen my name. I therefore want to reassure you that a 2nd wave is underway and I will have the pleasure of officially announcing my candidacy.“, he said on social networks.

Because the essential objective is to preserve these three seats. “I have no doubts about our abilities“, confided the latter. “The results obtained by Jean-Luc Mélenchon show that he had a better strategy than us, but I don’t think it was a vote to join. We can do better.

New faces

Apart from the outgoing deputies, only Jeanne Dromard presented herself in 2017 under the colors of La République en Marche (LREM). The current vice-president of the training institute launched by LREM, Tous politique!, came first in the first round in 2017, but had to bow to Sabine Rubin (LFI) in the second with 47.74% voices in the 9th constituency. This time it is going to conquer the 1st constituency where the outgoing LFI deputy, Eric Coquerel, is invested by the New popular ecological and social union (NUPES).

All the other candidates from Ensemble! will stick posters with their names for the first time. Among them two Modem personalities. In the 4th constituency, Lova Rinel was the parliamentary assistant to Marielle de Sarnez (Modem).

Anaïs Brood (photo of a), vice-president of the Young democrats, was, as for her, in charge of the communication of the majority during the presidential campaign in Seine-Saint-Denis. In the 2th constituency, she will notably face Stéphane Peu, candidate for a second term under the colors of NUPES.

Local anchors

The other faces of Ensemble! in Seine-Saint-Denis will for the most part be current or former local elected officials. Yasmina Baziz, deputy mayor (UDI) of Aubervilliers in charge of youth, Sonia Bakhti-Alout, 2th deputy (UDI) of the mayor (LR) of Bondy in charge of cleanliness, Hakima Ouaret, municipal councilor of Villepinte, delegate for Disability and the Fight against Discrimination and Marie-Laure Brossier, former elected socialist of Bagnolet. Nabil Aït Akkache is, for his part, a collaborator of the deputy (LREM) Zvika Park of Val d’Oise.
