Legion of Honor exhibition at the Department – Department 43: Culture, sports and leisure, economy and tourism in Haute Loire

The Jean-Claude Simon gallery hosts, from April 4 to May 27, the exhibition organized by the Society of Members of the Legion of Honor ” In the footsteps of former legionnaires of Haute-Loire ».

It was on the occasion of their centenary that the departmental committee imagined an exhibition on the recipients of Haute-Loire. This will also be visible in Brioude and then in Yssingeaux.

55 panels compose it:

  • 7 panels present thea Legion of Honorthe Society of Members of the Legion of Honor with its organization
  • 48 panels present former legionnaires incredible journeys selected from the thousands of legionnaires in the Department.

There are: ethnologist Germaine Tillion, mother Marie Pia for her role during the Second World War, Marshal Fayolle, ponot hero of the Great War, Geneviève Pubellier, first woman to enter the Department or Louis Rabaste, co-founder of the ‘Awakening of the Haute-Loire and Jacques Barrot…
Various objects related to the Legion of Honor or to the recipients complete the exhibition.

This exhibition is aimed at all audiences, but particularly young people in order to make them aware of the history of their city and their department.

The objective is also to transmit to them the values ​​of the Legion of Honor, to pay tribute to women and men who, through their profession or their commitment, fought for our rights, made the Haute-Loire shine or put its heritage forward …

The exhibition is free and open to the public Monday to Friday from 8 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
