On Thursday evening, Legia played the first match of the 4th round of the Europa League qualifying rounds – they drew in Prague with Slavia 2: 2.
– After the match with Slavia (…), the club requested that the next league match be postponed. After informing the media partners and Bruk-Betu Termalica, Ekstraklasa agreed to this request, taking into account the significant interest of Polish football. The overriding goal is to provide Polish clubs with optimal conditions during the qualifying rounds. Earlier, before the playoffs of the UEFA Conference League, we postponed the matches of Raków Częstochowa, now we will postpone the match of the Warsaw team. We must do everything to help the clubs climb in the UEFA ranking – said Marcin Stefański, operating director of Ekstraklasa SA, quoted in the company’s announcement.
As he added, “the promotion to the 28th place in the ranking will allow Polish clubs to start in the European competition two weeks later, and the point differences are minimal.”
– Every victory is important, because it may bring our clubs closer not only to group games, but also significantly improve their starting situation in the following seasons – he concluded.
The date of the Legia – Bruk-Bet Termalica match will be determined depending on the results of the clubs in the Fortuna Polish Cup games.
“The exact dates of the matches will need to be agreed with CANAL + and in the event of a Legia match also with TVP” – added in the announcement.
