Legendary Theater and Film Actor Konstantin Zheldin Dies at 91 in Moscow

In Moscow at the age of 91 died theater and film actor Konstantin Zheldin. Among his most famous roles are the role of SS Obersturmbannführer Wilhelm Holthoff in the TV series “Seventeen Moments of Spring” and the role of the Odessa bandit Stehel in the TV series “Liquidation”.

Konstantin Zheldin was born in 1933 in Moscow. At the age of 27, he graduated from the Shchukin Theater School, after which he worked in the Moscow theaters on Malaya Bronnaya and Taganka, and for the last twenty-three years – in the theater “Near the Stanislavsky House”. In total, Zheldin played more than one hundred and fifty roles in cinema and theater.

Rector of the Russian Institute of Theater Arts Grigory Zaslavsky, who announced Zheldin’s death, called the actor’s passing “unfair” because, despite his advanced age, “he had the strength and desire to go on stage and act in films.”
