Legendary Soviet and Russian Actor Konstantin Zheldin Dies at 91 in Moscow

Honored Artist of the RSFSR, legendary actor of Soviet and Russian cinema Konstantin Zheldin died in Moscow at the age of 91. This was reported by the theater “Near the Stanislavsky House” in its telegram channel.

“On October 5, we congratulated him on turning 90. His life path was inextricably linked with theaters that wrote significant pages in the history of Russian repertory theater: the Theater on Malaya Bronnaya, the Taganka Theater and our OKOLO theater,” the statement says.

He created unforgettable images in theater and cinema.

Zheldin was born in 1933 in Moscow. In 1961 he graduated from the Shchukin Theater School. In 1962-1963 he worked at the Theater on Malaya Bronnaya, from 1966 to 2000 he worked in the troupe of the Taganka Theater. Since 2001 he has played on the stage of the Moscow Theater “Near the Stanislavsky House”.

Until the last days of his life, the artist appeared on stage. Konstantin Zheldin made his film debut in 1960 as Baron von Lemke in the film Midshipman Panin. The actor has more than a hundred on-screen images in his collection. The most memorable are Holtoff from “Seventeen Moments of Spring”, counterintelligence captain Osipov from “His Excellency’s Adjutant”, a taxi driver from “Brother-2”, and the bandit Shtehel from the film “Liquidation”.
