This Thursday, April 6, the legendary rock musician Ainars Virga celebrated his 59th birthday. His plans already include the year 2024 – how to celebrate his 60th anniversary.
It is already clear that on April 6, 2024, an ambitious 60-year anniversary concert of Ainars Virga will be held at the Liepāja Olympic Center. The musician promises to make the program and guest list public closer to the concert, but there is no doubt that he will have something to say.
Born, raised and still living in Liepāja, Ainars Virga has been active in music since 1976, playing (in chronological order) in the groups “Vabolites”, “Corpus”, “Neptūns”, “Liepājas Quartets”, “Līvi”, “Riga”, “Liepājas brothers” and “Virga Hard Orchestra”, but of course above all this list is Ainar’s current “workplace” – “Līvi”.
In April 2014, Ainar Virga’s first solo album “Songs about life and love” was released, which was recognized as the best metal and rock album of 2014. He has also written music for the Liepāja theater play “Akmeni” (2005) and the musical “Liepāja sāts” (2007), participated with the group “Līvi” in the Liepāja theater performances “Kaupēn, mans mālīais” (music author Jānis Lūsēns). Ainars is also the organizer and the author of the idea of the festival “Virga fest” and “Līvi fest”. During his career, Ainars has collaborated with Olga Rajeckas, Igo, Ivo Fomina, Mārtiņa Ruski (Kantera), Jānis Buķelis, Andri Ērgli, Alex and many, many other singers and musicians.
