The Minnesota Wild of the National Hockey League (NHL) has announced the signing of a contract with goalkeeper Marc-Andre Fleury for two more seasons. The experienced goalkeeper is expected to receive seven million US dollars over two years.
Before the last season, the experienced Canadian was traded from the Vegas Golden Knights to the Chicago Blackhawks, the goalkeeper himself learned about it on Twitter. After the deal, the goalkeeper was very upset by the team’s decision and even considered ending his career, however, after much thought, he decided not to do it and continue playing hockey.
In 45 games in Chicago, the 37-year-old Fleury shot 90.8% and averaged 2.95 innings. On March 21, the non-playoff Blackhawks traded him to the Minnesota Wild, where the goalkeeper stopped 91% of shots in seven games in the regular season and allowed an average of 2.74 goals, but he managed 90 in five duels in the Stanley Cup. 6% shooting, averaging 3.04 innings.
During his career, Fleury played 940 games in the main NHL tournament and another 167 games in the “play-off” tournament, spending the longest period (2005-2017) with the Pittsburgh “Penguins”. The Canadian is a three-time Stanley Cup winner, while the 2020/2021 He won the Vezina Award for the league’s best goaltender in the 2008 season.
