In the program Příklep, hockey is dealt with from all possible angles, so when talking with the legendary defender of Vsetín or Sparta, Jan Srdínek, the topic of fights on the ice simply had to come up. He himself recalled the moment when he and the legend of České Budějovice, Rudolf Suchánek, got into each other. “We were in the lead, there were a few seconds to go and we started to falter. We fought at the gate, then in the year, and when we couldn’t anymore, we started banging each other’s heads. I got suspended for this, but it was nothing big,” the hockey player recounts.
Moderator Honza Homolka from O2 TV just nods his head and adds that he has been suspended for one match. He will remind Srdínek of the battle in the Spartan jersey with Jan Kruliš from Kladno, when he rode like a winner on the ice in the sports hall with his hands above his head. “I don’t remember that,” admits the former fullback, but spills out more details from the mentioned fight with Suchánek. It was said to have been pretty hell a few times in České Budějovice.
“That’s when Čeman (Vsetín goalkeeper Roman Čechmánek) caught me and rode around the field with me and we greeted the spectators,” recalls Srdínko. At that time, he said, his parents were waiting for him after the match and the atmosphere was very heated. “I told them to go away quickly , or they will flip their car onto its roof. We used to fight with the fans at that time,” the back surprised everyone in the studio.
“Is that how it was?” the presenter does not hide his surprise. “We left the dressing room with the bagel and they made a cordon. Whoever wanted to, kicked you, for example in the ass. It was varied. It was not like this in all stadiums, not even in Not every time in Budějovice, but some of the playoff matches in Budějky were heated. Honza Neliba nudged someone there even in front of the bus. They are good memories,” explains Srdínko.
He remembers one more skirmish from the extra league. “We played against the Vars and I was nudging one player the whole match. And it ended in a fight. The referee wanted to tear us apart. He caught me well, not the opponent, and then the player broke my nose,” he remembers the inconvenience.
He is said to have been hurt even more by a fight during his time in Sweden. “She was very expensive,” he teases at first. He didn’t know that according to the rules there, gloves are not allowed to be dropped during a fight. he still didn’t throw them down. The team praised me for the fight, but then I received an invoice for seven and a half thousand Swedes. That was about twenty-five thousand at the time,” confides Srdínko.
Another difficult moment awaited him at home, when he had to “brag” about an unexpected expense to his wife. They had a joint account, and the hockey player’s wife did not like this payment. “She told me, and now you feel better? It’s true that this fight hurt me, ” adds in the program Příklep.
