The City Council of Leganés joins the campaign “Blood donation week Your hospital needs you” that on the occasion of the celebration of World Donor Day on June 14, coordinates the Transfusion Center of the Community of Madrid together with town halls and hospitals. The City Council thus contributes to recovering the level of donation prior to the pandemic and to face the growing demand for blood.
According to the data provided by the Transfusion Center, blood donation in hospitals is still 20% below the necessary level. The campaign, which runs from June 14 to 18, as part of the blood donation week where it is hoped that everyone will give a strong boost to donation.

In this sense, the Department of Health and the City Council of Leganés encourage citizens to come and donate blood and reminds them that there are no restrictions on access to the hospital to go to donate and no appointment is necessary. The municipalities of Coslada, Móstoles, Fuenlabrada, Alcorcón, Pinto, Aranjuez, Alcobendas, Collado Villalba, Parla, Valdemoro, Alcalá de Henares and Getafe also participate in this initiative.
