Krefeld – Photos of strange everyday situations keep appearing on social media. Sometimes it’s about funny incidents. For example, in the case of a dog who is surprised by the doorbell. In other cases, things are recorded that cause anger or confusion. A Reddit user couldn’t believe that a certain parking maneuver by a driver could actually be legal.
Reddit Users Amazed by “Legalized Sidewalk Parking”
X (formerly Twitter), Instagram and Reddit are constantly uploading photos of traffic tickets that drivers believe they received for no reason. Particularly popular is sharing anger over alleged illegal parking in supermarket parking lots, which can be quite expensive. A Reddit user from Krefeld now shared a photo on Reddit showing a parking lot on the street. The problem was that the parking lot left little space for pedestrians.
According to the drawn line, over half of the sidewalk was reserved for parking cars. Pedestrians didn’t have a meter of space to move past the cars. A second snapshot showed that garbage cans were also blocking the path for pedestrians, and some drivers also parked their cars further on the sidewalk than permitted. “This can’t possibly be legal: Legalized sidewalk parking in Krefeld. Remaining width of the sidewalk… oh, forget it,” the Reddit user wrote alongside his photos.
Reddit users feel for the Krefeld man: “Would just walk on the street”
Other Reddit users could more than understand the photographer’s desperation. One person asked in astonishment: “Krefeld is this model project for a ‘car-free city center’?” Another said that “it’s only like that because the streets there are too bad for cars.” Another user also stated that it was “at also gives me two or three corners. I heard that you can write an email to some office and ask them to re-evaluate whether it meets the current standards.”
However, the parking positions shown do not only appear to exist in Krefeld. “Welcome to Mannheim, it’s the same here.” One user had a simple, but inadvisable and quite dangerous solution: “I would just walk on the street.” The photographer posted another picture in the comments and showed how There is really little space between the wall of the house and the cars – no consideration was given to pedestrians in this space.
Another driver found a very special parking space – he “parked” on top of another car.
