Febri said there was a difference between arrest and forced pick-up, so the legal team needed to confirm the legal status of the event involving Yasin Limpo’s arrest.
“This is something we certainly don’t know yet. I’ll confirm first that this is an arrest or forced pick-up. Arrests according to the Criminal Procedure Code regulate when an arrest can be made, for example after being summoned twice for failure to appear. Can this be done with subjective considerations? According to Febri, procedural legal certainty is important, although on the one hand his party respects the authority and implementation of tasks carried out by the KPK investigative team. Of course, he said, the exercise of authority must be in accordance with applicable procedural law.

Regarding the Corruption Eradication Committee’s concerns that SYL could run away or lose evidence, Febri confirmed that the former Minister of Agriculture would not run away.
“From Makassar early in the morning we arrived in Jakarta, and this is a form of commitment with a cooperative attitude. “So there are indications of where the evidence was lost,” said Febri.
For this reason, the former KPK spokesperson ensured that the public saw that the handling of the corruption case against Syahrul Yasin Limpo was proportional. “We, the legal team, ensure that we respect all law enforcers, in this case the Corruption Eradication Commission,” he said.
Previously, KPK spokesman Ali Fikri said that investigators were currently conducting an examination of Syahrul, so the public was expected to be able to wait for developments and the continuation of their arrest.
“Of course, when we carry out forced arrests, we must have a strong legal basis. “In the context of this case, of course there are several things that follow developments regarding this suspect,” he said.
He said this considering that previously the KPK had summoned SYL, meaning that he had given him time and space, but he never came until this afternoon.
“We received information that the person concerned had arrived in Jakarta last night and today when we found out, the KPK then carried out an analysis. That of course arresting suspects is in accordance with criminal procedural law, for example, fear of running away, destroying evidence. “That is the basis for the KPK investigative team,” said Ali.
