Legado celebrates its first year of creation at the service of the country and the community | News

One year after its institutional creation, through DS 007-2020, the Special Legacy Project has managed to preserve and maintain in excellent condition the five Pan American and Parapan American venues that were built for the Lima 2019 Games.

Beyond sports, the venues that hosted 9 national and 15 international tournaments were also integrated into the community, to improve the quality of life of citizens in the midst of the pandemic. The itinerant markets, health campaigns, and other activities related to recreation and family recreation in safe outdoor spaces were highlighted.

During 2020, a total of 22,413 people attended the itinerant and itinerant solidarity markets that took place from June to December, at the Villa El Salvador Sports Center, the Andrés Avelino Cáceres Sports Complex in Villa María del Triunfo, and the National Sports Village ( Videna), in San Luis.

In turn, the Pan-American venues were the scene of multisectoral community actions such as Operation Tayta (Territorial Operation for Aid for Treatment and Isolation against covid-19) and health campaigns that included vaccination days.

With the preventive campaign for the detection of breast and cervical cancer, in Videna, more than 600 sportswomen, residents of the San Luis district and workers of the institution were attended. In December, the free vaccination day benefited boys and girls under 5 years old, girls between 9 and 13 years old, pregnant women and older adults, with the application of HPV (Human Papillomavirus), DPTa (Tetanus, Diphtheria, Acellular pertussis) and pneumococcus.

At the beginning of this year, the Andrés Avelino Cáceres Sports Complex, located in the Villa María del Triunfo district, was reopened to the public, so that residents can run, jog and ride bicycles, in strict respect of biosecurity protocols.

On the other hand, 2,600 families benefiting from common pots and soup kitchens in the Villa María del Triunfo district, were favored with the free urban agriculture workshops that were held in December 2020. The leaders of these social organizations learned to sow organic products, free of agrochemicals.

Summer Academies

In the Pan American and Parapan American venues, cycles of sports workshops were also developed for children and young people for the training and recruitment of talent in the summer months.

Before the pandemic, in 2020, about 10,000 children and adolescents were part of said vacation day. Swimming was the sport with the most registrations, exceeding three thousand at the Videna and Villa María del Triunfo venues.

Last January, and in an unprecedented action in public management, the Special Pan American and Parapan American Games Legacy Project, attached to the Ministry of Transportation and Communications, signed a Facility Management contract with the company ENGIE Services Peru SA , for the application of international standards in the operation and specialized maintenance of the sports infrastructure built for Lima 2019.

In this way, the five sports venues: Videna, Villa María del Triunfo, Polideportivo Villa El Salvador, Costa Verde, and CAR Punta Rocas, do not lose value and maintain the same level certified by the international federations.
