A year ago, the portal Startitup first sounded the alarm after discovering that Good Roads’ headquarters in Kravany nad Dunajom was a closed area with no visible activity. further investigations revealed discrepancies in the company’s financial records, including unusually low wage costs and a lack of trucks for its declared size.These red flags suggested that the company’s accounting might have been manipulated to facilitate loans and VAT deductions.
The company’s troubles escalated when it faced legal battles with two leasing companies over unpaid installments. Additionally, the state is suing Good Roads for a tax debt of up to 2.5 million euros, which the owner claims is linked to VAT irregularities. The police are also investigating the company for credit fraud and other potential offenses,following a criminal complaint filed by a business partner to whom the company owes money.
A Name Change and New Management
In a move that has fueled suspicions of impending liquidation, Good Roads has rebranded itself as Europe Trade and relocated its headquarters from Kravany nad Dunajom to Tolstého 5, near the Presidential Palace. Despite the changes, the company remains under the ownership of Štefan Mitaš from Kravany. Though, the day-to-day operations are now managed by Ruslan Hridzhak from Nové Zámky, a figure with no prior business history in the Slovak Commercial Register.
