“Left-wing Extremist Sentenced and Protests Ensue”

Left-wing extremist Lina E. is sentenced in Dresden. This led to protests not only there – there were also protests in Hamburg.

Around 400 people protested in Hamburg on Wednesday evening against the sentencing of four suspected left-wing extremists in Dresden. The supporters of the left-wing scene gathered around 8 p.m. at the Rote Flora in the Schanzenviertel. On banners they demanded, among other things, “Fight their class justice – it hit some people, we are all meant”. Then demonstrators wanted to go through the Schanzenviertel.

The Dresden Higher Regional Court had sentenced left-wing extremist Lina E. to five years and three months in prison for several attacks on right-wing extremists. The State Protection Chamber imposed prison sentences of between two years and five months and three years and three months on the three co-defendants. Supporters and sympathizers protested loudly in the hall against the verdict. After the sentence had been announced, the presiding judge, Hans Schlueter-Staats, interrupted the hearing because onlookers chanted “Faschofreunde” and “Fucking class justice”.
