Twitter also concluded its Fleets ad test last month according to plan.
Twitter fleets: Not even a year after its introduction, Twitter is ending fleets. The fleets were the Twitter version of Instagram stories, and had been launched by the microblogging site in November of last year as a way for people to share their opinions for a shorter period of time, in the hope of making it a lower pressure space so that people who were generally afraid to share tweets about reactions their posts might elicit would have a less temporary means of publication. However, now the company said in a statement that it had not seen an increase in the number of new people joining the fleets as much as it had hoped. Therefore, as of August 3 of this year, fleets would no longer be available on the platform.

The company, however, added that it would use its learning from the fleets and focus on creating other ways people could join the conversation. Sharing some of the things he learned from his Fleets experience, Twitter said that while it had created Fleets as a way to address concerns that prevented some people from posting tweets, it realized that fleets were only used by people who were already tweeting, and they were mainly doing this to amplify their tweets and have direct conversations with people. Therefore, he said he would look for other ways to fix the issues that prevent people from tweeting.
He also noticed that most of the fleets released included media, indicating that people enjoyed sharing photos and videos in a quick fashion. Therefore, it will soon be testing updates to Tweet Composer as well as camera functionality so that some Composer Fleets features – like full screen camera, GIF stickers, and text formatting options – will be tested soon. can be incorporated therein.
Since Twitter found the top of the timeline to be a good highlight space, that space would now be used to highlight “Spaces”. A user would see the spaces in this area if someone they are following is hosting or participating in a live audio chat so that they can also log in if they wish.
Twitter also concluded its Fleets ad test last month as per plan, and it marked one of its first experiences with full-screen ads in vertical format. Thus, the company would now rate the performance of these ads on the platform.
