“Left the carcasses unharmed.” An unknown beast killed sheep in a village in eastern Kazakhstan

news-id-118551" style="display:inline;">In the East Kazakhstan region, an unknown predator entered a barn in one of the villages and killed 15 sheep, Tengrinews.kz reports with reference to Altaynews.kz.

The carcasses of bloodless animals were discovered on the morning of January 20 by Yedilkhan Sarbasov, a resident of the village of Kokzhota in the Bastaushi rural district (Samar district). Another 10 sheep were injured.

Akim of the district Nurlan Makhambetov, akim of the rural district Arman Kenesbekov, as well as employees of the local police department promptly went to the scene of the incident.

“An unknown predator broke into the barn, digging a passage under the door. It was most likely a lynx. If it was a wolf, it would have torn apart the sheep, but this predator left the carcasses almost unharmed.

The carcasses of dead sheep are buried in a special place for burying livestock. This is due to the fact that the saliva of a predator can contain various dangerous diseases. Currently, employees of the akimat of the rural district are calculating the damage,” said deputy akim of the district Kaidar Surashev.

To prevent repeated attacks by wild animals on livestock, local executive bodies instructed forestry officials to strengthen control over predators.
