Clean console, decent gamer.
Hygiene is at least as important for your fearfully guarded companion, your console, as it is for you. Bathing not very regularly will not only make you smelly, but also much more attractive to various bugs, while human company will be far away. The problems of an unclean console, although fundamentally different, can be no less disturbing, for example
- if it is very dirty, it can be proportionally louder
- and if it is louder, it already indicates inadequate cooling,
- and too much heat can affect not only the performance of the console, but also its expected life.
So clean it up!
Fortunately, you don’t have to be so pedantic. If there is not a lot of dust in the apartment and the machine is in a relatively well-ventilated room, it is enough to lick it every 3-6 months, but if you are swimming in dust cats that have become roommates, then it is better to lick it more often.
How do I keep my Xbox Series X clean?
When designing the Xbox Series X, Microsoft paid great attention to the fact that the machine could be taken apart in spades if someone wanted to clean it. This is fortunate if only because the Xbox One was notoriously difficult for the average user to take apart, even though dust removal can sometimes do wonders.
What you will need:
- an Xbox Series X for sure,
- you will need a T8 screwdriver,
- a plastic tensioner,
- and it is good to have a compressed air spray, a microfiber cloth, a little isopropanol, and a low-power vacuum cleaner.
And how will you know when it’s time to clean? Well, on the one hand, you should do this without saying a word, and on the other hand, you should mark it in the calendar. Joking aside, it’s really important that if you can, you should regularly clean your Xbox, because this will not only keep your Xbox beautiful, but also healthy. If, for example, you find that for some reason the machine is getting louder than usual, then by all means grab a tool and peel it off, but fuck it!
It’s not difficult:
- First, turn off the Xbox, then unplug it, and finally unplug all the cables from its butt.
- If you are satisfied with this, then carefully (so do not tear) remove the two stickers from the back – one is tricky because it is black and hidden under the connectors.
- Below these you will see two small screws, which you will have to carefully unscrew.
- If they are out, carefully snap off the back cover, preferably with the plastic tensioner (if you do it with a metal or screwdriver, it will leave a mark).
- You made it to the console, congratulations!
- Blow it with compressed air and/or a vacuum cleaner.
- After that, you should also wipe the fan, which you should unplug first (you’ll find it, don’t worry).
- If you are satisfied with this, grab it and pull it out skillfully.
- If the stuff is already out, clean it with the microfiber cloth, it will do him good.
- Put the cooling fan back in the Xbox and don’t forget to plug it back in because it won’t work.
- Put the back cover back, wrap the screws well, and also put the stickers in their place.
And you have a clean Xbox. The whole thing doesn’t take more than 10 minutes anyway, so the phrase I don’t have time is no excuse. It’s really worth doing the cleaning every time, because you can often extend the expected life of the console quite a bit.
Important at the same time, if you have already disassembled the Xbox, then the warranty is there. So, with this in mind, go into it even if it’s almost impossible to screw it up. If you are already past the factory gari, then there is nothing holding you back, and it is highly recommended!
